Some Like It Hot

Have you seen the movie Some Like It Hot? It's pretty funny, 1959 film with Marilyn Monroe. I am a big fan of older movies, Shirley Temple was one of my favorites to watch as a kid, so her recent passing was pretty sad for me, but I also love just about anything with Jerry Lewis. My sister and I use to crack up laughing at him!
Anyway, as I was going through some of my favorite paleo recipes I came across this sauce that I totally love! It's a Sweet Chili  dipping sauce and it's amazing. Anything that is sweet and spicy is a big hit with me and this one really has it! Again from the amazing blogger and paleo athlete Steph, at StupidEasyPaleo this is a super easy and quick sauce you can put on just about anything. At the time I had some leftover chicken and was craving some broccoli, yes craving, that may sound weird but I have always loved broccoli! So to spice things up a big I whipped up this sauce and poured it over my chicken and broccoli. Totally hit the spot and was amazing! My husband likes it with the chick-fil-a like nuggets I make, which I will also be giving you the recipe for later in the week! Here we go!

What you need:
5 TBS white wine vinegar
2 cloves minced garlic (pretty sure I used 3 because I love garlic)
2 TBS honey (if you can find a local brand that is even better! HEB has a good selection of local honey)
2 tsp chopped red chilis (I had some chili paste on hand and that worked awesome as well)
1 tsp arrowroot powder (paleo version of corn starch, it's used for thickening)
1 tsp grated ginger
a pinch of salt

How to get it done:
Mince up your garlic and grade your ginger. (I used a microplane grater but the smallest holes on a regular grater would work as well, or just dice it up really fine)

Put all your ingredients, vinegar, garlic, honey, chili, ginger and salt into a pot on med heat. Also put in your arrowroot powder, and still till it dissolves.

Let it come to a boil and it starts to thicken it should take about a min, maybe even less.

After that let it cool down a bit and then it's good to go! After the first time I made it, I realized that I was going to have to double the batch every other time I planned on making it because it is that good!

Let me know what you guys think and what foods you tried it with!

  2. It really does! I've got a couple little tweaks to try out on it this week that I'm hoping are going to be really awesome as well!
