Questions and Answers

Hey guys,
   So for the next couple days I would like you to post in the comments any questions you have about nutrition, recipes, macros, anything that you've been wanting to know but didn't know who to ask or couldn't find the time or whatever the reason may be. I really want this to be an interactive blog that you feel you can get the most out of. I know nutrition can be a frustrating thing and my goal is to help you in whatever way I can. So send in your questions, I'm ready!!

  1. Great question Alex, so eating by blocks refers to the Zone diet way of eating. It's about learning portion size. You can go to http://zonediet.com/body-fat-calc to find out how many blocks you would need in a day. A block consists of;
    7g of Protein
    9g of Carbs
    1.5g of Fat
    So if you are eating a 3 block meal, then you will take 3 blocks of protein, 3 blocks of carbs, and 3 blocks of fat, which equal 21 grams of protein, 27 grams of carbs, and 4.5 grams of fat.
    Here is an example of a 3 Block Meal:
    3 eggs
    4.5 oz sweet potato
    9 almonds
    This is a very disciplined way of eating because you have to weigh and measure all your food. Of course like anything it gets easier the longer you stick with it but for anyone just starting out with trying to eat healthy I wouldn't start with the zone, it would be very overwhelming.
